Introduction to MAX 232 IC
The MAX 232 device is a dual driver/receiver that includes a capacitive voltage generator to   supply EIA-232 voltage levels from a single 5V supply. The voltage level in the RS232 bus is about 30V. Each receiver converts EIA-232 inputs to 5V TTL/CMOS levels. These receivers have a typical threshold of 1.3V and a typical hysteresis of 0.5 V, and can accept ±30V inputs. Each driver converts TTL/CMOS input levels into EIA-232 levels. It is used in battery-powered systems, Terminals, modems, computer and many other applications. Only one of the driver and receiver is utilized here.

8051 reset circuit.  The 8051 has an active high reset input must 0 high for two machine cycle when power is first applied and then goes to low. The simple RC circuit used to supply system voltage(VCC) to the reset pin until the capacitor charge. At a threshold of about 2.5v, the reset input reaches a low level and the system begins to run. Program Status Register PSW of 8051 The 8051 has a 8-bit PSW register which is alsoknown as Flag register.In the 8-bit register only 6-bits are used by 8051.The two unused bits are user definable bits.In the 6-bits four of them are conditional flags .They are Carry –CY,Auxiliary Carry-AC, Parity-P,and Overflow-OV .These flag bits indicate some conditions that resulted after an instruction was executed. The bits PSW3 and  PSW4  are  denoted as RS0 and RS1 and these bits are used th select the bank registers of the RAM location. The meaning of various bits of PSW register is shown below.
